Money with Purpose

Stop Sending Cash. Start Sending Certainty.

Stop Sending Cash. Start Sending Certainty.

Sending cash is easy; knowing where it ends up is not.

When immigrants move to another country in pursuit of economic opportunities and the ability to help their loved ones back home, they leave everything they know behind and often travel to a new place completely on their own. But these people are determined,  they work to provide for their families back home. They are relentless and have a discipline that is admirable. The income they receive often goes back to their loved ones in their home country, to their parents, or their siblings or their children, because the pay in the country they’re working is better than the wages back home. However, one of the biggest issues that immigrants face is when wiring money to their loved ones,  they have no way of knowing how that money is actually being used.

Say for example you’re living in Dallas, and your family lives in Guatemala, you make a decent amount of money and your mom calls, saying your brother can’t afford his groceries for the week. Because you have some money to spare, you offer to send your brother a bit of money to help out back home. However, you eventually come to find out that your brother hasn’t been spending the money you’ve sent on groceries, he’s been buying clothes or overpriced shoes, neglecting his responsibilities of looking after your family. It sounds unlikely, but ask around –  you'd be surprised how often it happens. Sending cash eliminates certainty. You might send $20 to your niece for her to buy medicine for your sister, but she uses it to buy a new top instead, and you’d never know. So, if this is a common issue,

why haven’t we found a solution?

Western Union, Remitly, Xoom, these are all platforms that are useful for wiring money. But they don’t provide the extra security of knowing how your money is being allocated. OKY, an app where you can send vouchers with a certain amount of money to your family members, eliminates the fear of not knowing how the money you send back home is being spent. For instance, you want to send 50 dollars to your mother in Guatemala, but you want her to use that money only at La Torre, a well known Guatemalan supermarket. With OKY, all it takes is going on the app, putting in the amount of money you want to send, and then putting in your mom’s number, and she’ll receive it instantly. This way, she gets the money she needs to buy her essentials, and you have the certainty of knowing that the money you send back home is well spent.

OKY has many benefits, but the most valuable one is peace of mind. You can manage your family’s spendings from your hard work in a secure manner. That way, you can provide for your family’s well being, while ensuring your hard work doesn’t go to waste. You left home so your family could have a better life. OKY makes sure that effort actually reaches them.
